On 27 March 2020, a case was registered by police against K.K.Saxena, a journalist who had attended a press conference on 20 March by the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, who was announcing his resignation, despite the fact that Saxenaʼs daughter had returned from the United Kingdom two days previously. Both Saxena and his daughter later tested positive for COVID-19. The case was registered under IPC sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270(malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life).
