New Delhi: Apple has removed Bitchat, the Bluetooth mesh messaging app created by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, from its India App Store following a formal takedown demand from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
Dorsey shared a screenshot of Apple’s notice on X on October 3, writing: “government of India officially removes bitchat from the App Store.” The letter stated that the app would be taken down “per demand from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology because it includes content illegal in India and violates App Review Guidelines.
