Three more FIRs have been filed in Maharashtra against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra over his alleged derogatory remarks against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

A police official said the FIRs from different locations have been transferred to the Khar police station. One FIR was filed in Jalgaon and two were filed in Nashik under Sections 353(1)(b), 353(2) (statements conducing to public mischief), and 356(2) (defamation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Relief for Kunal Kamra: Bombay HC grants comedian protection from arrest in ‘traitor’ jibe case

Kamra, in his plea, had stated that he was a resident of Tamil Nadu and was apprehensive about coming to Maharashtra due to the death threats. The Bombay high court on Friday granted protection to stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra from arrest, while ordering that the probe can continue in the case over ‘traitor’ jibe at Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde.
