Greater Chennai Police denied Arappor Iyakkam, an anti-graft organisation, permission to hold a demonstration against alleged corruption in coal import by the Adani Group. Following this, the group Arappor Iyakkam held a protest at their office. protested in Thirumurthy Nagar. Over 120 participants criticized the Tamil Nadu government and Adani Group for alleged corruption in coal imports. During the protest, convenor Jayaram Venkatesan accused the government of suppressing dissent and protecting corrupt practices. He claimed irregularities in coal transactions involving TANGEDCO and an Adani Group firm.
