Giving in to pressure from the ruling Tamil Nadu government, makers of Vijay’s Sarkar have now deleted the controversial scenes that were objected to by the AIADMK. The production house, Sun Pictures, knocked on the doors of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Friday (November 9) morning. Three new modifications have been made in the movie and a scene has been deleted.

One scene has been removed from Sarkar and words have been muted in three places. The deleted scene has AR Murugadoss throwing freebies into the fire, which was considered as a dig at J Jayalalithaa’s freebie schemes which gave away free mixer-grinders, table fans and laptops.

In addition to that, the name Komalavalli (name of Varalaxmi’s character in Sarkar) has been muted in such a way that only ‘Valli’ will be heard in the new version. ADMK has claimed that Komalavalli is the birth name of J Jayalalithaa and the film tarnishes her image. Even during the hearing of the anticipatory bail petition of director AR Murugadoss, the Tamil Nadu government informed the court that Komalavalli was the original name of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
