A few days ago, the Indian-origin professor in the UK, Nitasha Kaul, in a series of posts on X, said he was denied entry to India after she landed at the Bengaluru airport and was deported from the country hours later. The 48-year-old was invited by the Karnataka government to speak at a convention on February 24 and 25, but immigration officials refused entry to her by “informally” making “references” to Kaul’s “criticism of the RSS”, the Kashmiri-Pandit writer further claimed.

“Denied entry to India for speaking on democratic & constitutional values. I was invited to a conference as (an) esteemed delegate by (the) Govt of Karnataka (Congress-ruled state) but (the) Centre refused me entry. All my documents were valid & current (UK passport & OCI),” Kaul, a professor at the University of Westminster in the UK, wrote on X. At the time, the Karnataka BJP had responded to Nitasha Kaul’s series of tweets, calling out the Congress party and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for inviting the author in the first place.
