The administration has suspended mobile interest services in Gangapur City of Sawaimadhopur district after communal tension broke out in the city on Sunday. The administration has also imposed section 144 of CrPC banning gathering of five or more people.
At least five people were injured when people from two communities clashed with each-other on Sunday. The tension was triggered during a rally taken out by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). The VHP supporters were shouting slogans in the rally when some people hurled stones on them. It led to clashes between two groups of people. The tension spread throughout the town. Some people damaged the local shops and vehicles.
Heavy police force was deployed in the town and the administration suspended internet services to prevent the spread of rumours on social media. Five people were injured in the stone pelting.
